Attitude Adjustment is a hardcore punk band hailing from the Walnut Creek / Concord area (or east bay) in California. The band formed in 1985 with original members Eric McIntire on guitar, Rick Strahl on bass, and Chris Kontos on drums.
In the summer of 1985, they recruited their first singer Kevin Reed (formerly of Teenage Warning) and began playing shows shortly afterwards.
After a handful of shows, Kevin left in late 1985 and was replaced with a new vocalist by the name of Andy Anderson. At the same time, the band also added a second guitarist, Chris Scapparo for a more full, metallic sound.
Shortly after recruiting the two new members, they recorded their first demo, entitled “Dead Serious“. In the spring of 1986, Eric McIntire left the band and they shortly afterwards recorded their 1st album entitled American Paranoia. At the end of 1986, the band officially had their first break up.
All of the members, except drummer Chris Kontos went on to form Condemned Attitude / Attitude. The band immediately reformed again with Chris Kontos, Eric McIntire and Kevin Reed and got a new bassist named Keith Madeiros, but Keith was short-lived, so they grabbed Ray Vegas (formerly of Bad Influence and Social Unrest) and in 1988 recorded their 2nd album entitled No More Mr. Nice Guy.
1989 saw the band recruiting a new member, Sean Sutton and in 1991 the band recorded their 3rd album “Out Of Hand“. At the end of 1991, the band had yet broken up again. Eric, Kevin and Chris did however get together in 1995 to record a few tracks for an e.p. entitled “True To The Trade”.
The band reformed yet again in 2007 out of the ashes of a band called Deathtoll, and in 2011 recorded an album called “No Way Back” which featured new members Greg Orr on Bass, and Bryon “Yapple” Ruelas on 2nd guitar. The album was recorded in Copenhagen Denmark on their 1st ever European tour.
In late 2013, drummer Chris Kontos and guitarist Bryon Ruelas left and the band pulled in Walter “Monsta” Ryan (formerly of Paranoia, Possessed, Madball etc) on drums and got Ray Vegas back again and recorded an album called “Terrorize” in 2015. The band also did a tour of Japan in late 2016.
